About
Wheaton Drama is a community theatre. We’re dedicated to providing high-quality, live theatre in the Chicago suburbs.
We’re a volunteer organization. Our members come from all over the Chicago area. We have different backgrounds, careers, interests, opinions and talents, but we all share a love of theatre. Some of us want to perform and entertain, while others enjoy creating the sets and costumes. Some are excited about the lights and sound, and others are happiest organizing the silent chaos backstage while the show goes on. Some of our members are active in other community theatres, and others are professionally involved in area theatre. Some of our members have even performed professionally on Broadway and in London! Wheaton Drama gives us a place to do what we love, have fun doing it, learn new skills and meet new people.
We also share our passion for theatre with our community. We welcome anyone who is interested in theatre to join us. You don’t need experience, just the desire to be involved with live theatre! We run an annual Children’s Workshop, educating the next generation of area talent in the Arts, and offer a yearly scholarship to a high school senior who plans to major in Performing Arts. We give a special preview performance of every show to area Veteran, Senior, and Assisted Living facilities. We provide live entertainment and character performances at the Taste of Wheaton and the Fourth of July Parade. Our members delight children as Santa and Mrs. Claus and the Easter Bunny. We’re very active within our community! We’re part of a network of local community theatres who support each other.
