WHEATON DRAMA ANNOUNCES 2016-17 SEASON

Forbidden Broadway will be directed by Stan Austin and will open the season September 16-October 9. This is an Off-Broaday revue parodying Broadway musical theater.

Shrek, The Musical will be directed by Mike Boyna and staged November 18-December 11. This charming musical follows Shrek, the ogre, and his loyal friend Donkey as they pursue a quest to rescue Princess Fiona from Lord Farquaad. This musical will be a fun experience for the whole family.

A Christmas Carol will be presented as a radio show December 15,-18. In keeping with a tradition started four years ago, Pam Turlow will direct this classic story as a radio presentation suitable for family attendance.

The Elephant Man starts out 2017 January 20-February 12 and will be directed by Sean Ogren. This play depicts the life of John Merrick, a severly defigured man who was rescued by a kindly doctor. This play takes place in London during the later part of the 1800’s.

Outside Mullingar will be produced March 24-April 15 and will be directed by Rob Reinalda. An Irish father and son and their neighbors, consider questions of life, death, love and the family farm This is a lovely romantic comedy.

The Producers will be directed by Craig Gustafson and be the final production of the season May 26 – June 18. This is a hilarious satire of the business side of Broadway. Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom make money by producing a sure-fire flop.

OUR HOLIDAY MUSICAL WILL BE “THE SECRET GARDEN”
Production dates are Nov 14 – Dec 6, 2014. (Rights have been secured.)

‘Amadeus,’ ‘Cinderella,’ ‘39 Steps,’ ‘Spamalot’ highlight Wheaton Drama’s 2014-15 season

WHEATON, IL. — Wheaton Drama Inc., the venerable theater troupe, has announced its 2014-15 season, an eclectic array of theatrical offerings that promise to delight its established audience and attract new patrons to Playhouse 111.

Mad Mid-Mod Musicals: June 26–29, 2014 — A retro revue featuring tunes from the 1950s and 1960s.

The Last Five Years: Aug. 8–17, 2014 (7 performances) — A two-person musical depicting a young marriage.

Amadeus: Sept. 19–Oct. 12, 2014 — The fictionalized account of the rivalry between composers Mozart and Salieri in 18th-century Vienna.

Cinderella: Nov. 14–Dec. 7, 2014 — Rodgers and Hammerstein’s enchanting take on the classic fairy tale.

It’s a Wonderful Life radio show: Dec. 11–14, 2014 — Journey to Bedford Falls for this perennial favorite, brought to life as a radio show.

The 39 Steps: Jan. 30–Feb. 12, 2015 — A hilariously frenetic reworking of the Hitchcock film, with all the characters played by just four actors.

Enchanted April: March 27–April 12, 2015 (3-week run) — Four London women rent a villa in Italy, renewing their spirits and their worldview.

Spamalot: May 22–June 14, 2015 — The musical comedy based on Monty Python and the Holy Grail, with familiar characters and lots of surprises.

Lend Me A Tenor by Ken Ludwig. Performances: September 13 – October 6. Auditions: July 28-29. Directed by Jim Liesz. $13 Thursdays/$16 Fridays-Sundays.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat by Webber/Rice. Performances: November 8 – December 8. Auditions: September 15-16. Directed by Anthony Berg. $18 Thursday/$21 Fridays-Sundays.

It’s A Wonderful Life – Radio Play (2013 Winter Fundraiser). Performances: December 12-15. Directed by Sean Ogren. $10 General Admission.

And Then There Were None (aka Ten Little Indians) by Agatha Christie. Performances: January 24 – February 16, 2014. Auditions: November 10-11. Directed by Randall W. Knott. $13 Thursdays/$16 Fridays-Sundays.

Steel Magnolias by Robert Harling. Performances: March 21 – April 13, 2014. Auditions: January 26-27. Directed by Lisa Dawn Foertsch. $13 Thursdays/$16 Fridays-Sundays.

The Music Man by Meredith Wilson. Performances: May 23 – June 15, 2014. Auditions: March 23-24. Directed by Craig Gustafson. $18 Thursdays/$21 Fridays-Sundays.
