Education

Wheaton Drama is committed to bringing the best in theater education to adults and children in the Wheaton area. We offer a variety of classes for children throughout the year, including summer workshops. We are looking to expand our adult education program and excited to bring new opportunities to our adult members and non-members in different fields of theater.

Our Education Governor is Elyse Willis. Elyse has a BA in both music education and theatrical production: stage management from Elmhurst College. She is an elementary general music teacher in Addison. Elyse has been a member of Wheaton Drama since 2013. During that time, she has stage managed, production managed and run the light board for several shows. Favorites include Amadeus, 39 Steps and Elephant Man. Elyse also is the tech teacher for our annual summer tech workshop. Her goals as Education Governor include expanding our adult education programs and our children’s programs to offer more opportunities for all participants (both on and off stage). Working on the tech side of the theater, Elyse is fully aware that it is a team effort and often the tech skills are not taught and you end up learning “by the seat of your pants.” No one should feel they can’t do their job effectively due to lack of opportunities to learn the skills necessary.
