Tuesday, August 6th, 2019

Love theatre but don’t have time to do a full show? Never been on stage and want to give it a try for the first time? Always wanted to try your hand at the technical side of theatre but were too nervous you wouldn’t know what you were doing? New to the area and have no idea what Wheaton Drama is all about? Well we have the perfect answer to all these questions and more!

Join us for our second annual Adult Theatre Workshop Weekend. Participants can choose between:

  • Acting – including instruction in a bit of acting, singing and dancing, or
  • Technical Theatre – including stage managing, lights, sound, props and costumes.

We have fantastic instructors in each discipline here to help guide you on your journey throughout the weekend.

Our workshop weekend is:

Saturday, October 19, from 9AM – 4PM (with a break from 12 – 1 for lunch),

Sunday, October 20, from 1PM – 4:30PM

Monday, October 21, Dress Rehearsal at 7:30pm, and we would showcase our mini performance on

Tuesday, October 22, at 7PM at the monthly membership meeting.

The cost of this workshop is $20, which covers the cost of a special workshop shirt and a small stipend to our teachers.

Registration is open online at www.wheatondrama.org from August 5 – October 13. There are only 15 spots available for acting and 10 spots available for tech, so make sure to sign up TODAY. You do not want to miss out on this amazing new experience at WDI this fall.

STUDENTS “ACTING IT UP” AT WHEATON DRAMA

A six week workshop designed to strengthen the acting “muscle.” Through acting games and exercises, each week students will work on a different aspect of acting technique such as movement, voice, characterization, pantomime, plus others. Teamwork, focus and listening are added benefits in this acting workshop. Students will also work on a short 15 min skit to apply the skills learned and will perform at the end of the last class. Sessions will be posted throughout the year as they become open for registration (roughly a month before the class starts).

All sessions will be on Monday afternoons at these times:

Grades 1 – 4:  4:30 p.m. until 5:20 p.m.

Grades 5 – 8:  5:25 p.m. until 6:15 p.m.

Student Acting Workshops at Wheaton Drama

Monday, August 15th, 2016
Kindergarten Through Eighth-Grade Classes

A fun experience for all!

Young performers will learn basic onstage and acting techniques while they develop their imagination and creativity. All children will have a blast as they explore acting through a series of theater and improvisational games.

This ensemble-building class will foster each student’s self-esteem and help him/her become an independent thinker both on and off the stage. This year our fall class will be a steppingstone to a more in-depth winter class and a final production at the end of the winter session.

Six-week sessions will be offered this fall at Wheaton Drama.

Fall 2016 session: Sept. 13 – Oct. 18  (Note: Classes are subject to change based on enrollment.)

All sessions will be on Tuesday afternoons at these times:
Grades K – 4: From 4 p.m. until 4:55 p.m.
Grades 5 – 8: From 5 p.m. until 5:55 p.m.

Cost: $100 per session per child (You can sign up here.)

This fall’s class will be taught by Mackenzie Grattan. Mackenzie is a veteran teacher of the Wheaton Drama Summer Workshop for the past several summers. We are excited to welcome Mackenzie to this new venture at WDI.

Contact Elyse Wadzinski for more information at wdieducation@wheatondrama.org or call 630.260.1820 and leave a message about registration.
